PowerPoint Presentation Tips & Tricks

  • Want to blank out your slide show when you're presenting?  Press "B" to black out your screen or "W" to white it out.

  • Hit F1 in slideshow mode to see all the keyboard shortcuts.
  • When in PowerPoint 2010 in presenter mode. Press the Ctrl key, hold down the left mouse key and you create a red lazer pointer effect...
  • Use "Presenter View". Especially if you have PPT 2007, where you can add your speaker notes, and then zoom in on the notes section to get very large text so it is easy to glance down. Presenter view can provide a few nice things, but many times, if you are standing in front of people and the laptop is too far away, it is difficult to read the notes you put in. You can adjust window size, etc. in the Presenter View (ex: You can actually reduce the screen for your existing slide, and keep the "slide timeline" larger so you can see what is next, along with magnified speaker notes) so, realistically, you could put your bullet points - which are only reminders for the presenter - on there to refresh
